HCI and UCLA’s Efforts to Address Food Insecurity

Semel HCI Center Grant Programs
Semel HCI Center provides catalytic funding for high-quality, replicable, and sustainable projects helping to make UCLA a healthier, more equitable community. There are funding mechanisms for 1) student group projects and 2) staff and faculty projects.
UCLA Sleep Well Campaign
Connect and integrate various MindWell partners to form new and highlight existing sleep and resiliency-building activities that are both replicable and sustainable.

UCLA Basic Needs
Resources to support basic and essential needs for students, including the Community Programs Office (CPO) Food Closet, Commuter Van Service, and more.
CPO Food Closet
The UCLA Community Programs Office (CPO) Food Box Giveaway Program distributes 1,000 boxes of food to students during the Thanksgiving and winter holiday breaks.
Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
UCLA DPP provides education, encouragement, and the tools necessary to help individuals reach their health goals.
Bruin Safe Online
Bruins Safe Online provides updates about campus safety and operations, offering resources and information to promote safe and responsible behavior, as well as updates about campus safety measures and operations.
UCLA Worker’s Compensation
The purpose of Workers’ Compensation is to provide medical care and benefits to employees who are injured at work or who develop a job-related illness as a result of their employment.
UCLA SafeRide
UCLA SafeRide is a complimentary service that provides: safe, reliable, evening campus transportation; transportation between campus buildings, on-campus housing and nearby residential areas; complimentary transportation to all students, staff, faculty and visitors; and vans and buses that are ADA compliant and disinfected daily.
UCLA Evening Escorts
CSO escorts are available free of charge to walk with students, faculty, staff or visitors 365 days a year from dusk until 1 a.m. between campus buildings, local living areas or Westwood Village within the approximate boundaries of Sunset Boulevard to the north, Hilgard to the east, Wilshire to the South, and Veteran to the west.
