Biography
Jade Takahashi (she/her) is a producer and preserver of stories, serving as the Communications Manager with the UCLA Semel HCI and a Producer and Co-Founder of Par-Tak Films.
She received a BA in English Literature and MA in Moving Image Archive Studies at UCLA. As an archivist with the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), she processed home movie and orphan film collections and handled a variety of media. Before co-founding Par-Tak Films in 2018, she was the Senior Specialist of Production and Operations and produced and preserved long form interviews with filmmakers with AMPAS’ Oral History Projects department.
She has worked with a range of media creators and preservers, from Light Iron, The Autry National Center, UCLA’s Hugh and Hazel Darling Law Library, California State University Monterey Bay and The Esalen Institute. Takahashi’s passion is exploring how stories are told in various mediums – from the page, audio reel to reel to streams, moving images to immersive landscapes.
